Milo the Mouse – A gentle rhyming poem about Milo, a small brown mouse who discovers the joy of friendship through kindness and sharing.
Milo the Mouse
By Story Bell
In a nook beneath a tree so small,
Lived Milo Mouse, the tiniest of all.
With whiskers soft and eyes so bright,
He'd peek outside at morning light.

But Milo felt so all alone,
In his quiet little home of stone.
"I wish," he squeaked in voice so small,
"I had a friend to share it all."

So out he crept on tiny feet,
Through dewy grass so cool and sweet.
Past ferns and flowers, bright and new,
Beneath a sky of clearest blue.

And there he met a bunny small,
Who sat beside the garden wall.
The bunny sighed, "I'm sad today,
I have no one with whom to play."

Said Milo with a gentle smile,
"Let's sit together for a while.
I have some berries, red and sweet,
Sharing makes them more a treat!"
The bunny's eyes began to shine,
"How kind of you! How very fine!
To share your food with one so new,
I'd like to be a friend to you."

Then walking on, they saw a bird,
The biggest bluebird they'd ever heard.
"My nest fell down, I'm all alone,
I cannot build it on my own."
"We'll help you!" Milo squeaked with cheer,
"That's what friends are for, my dear!"
They gathered twigs and moss so soft,
And built a nest high up aloft.

Now three friends played in fields of green,
The happiest friends you've ever seen!
They hopped and jumped and sang with glee,
As joyful as could ever be.

"I understand now," Milo said,
As stars appeared overhead.
"When you're kind and when you share,
Friends appear from everywhere!"

So if you ever feel alone,
Remember little Milo's home.
Reach out with kindness, try and see,
How happy friends will always be!
